How can we help a child growing up without parental care believe in themselves, feel supported, and see more opportunities for the future? Mentorship is one of the most vital tools in this process. To expand the network of mentors for children who need it most, Ridni Foundation, in cooperation with the Ternopil Oblast Center of Social Services, conducted a series of essential informational meetings across communities in Ternopil Oblast – in Berezhany, Chortkiv, and Lanivtsi.
In total, 66 participants joined the events: 29 in Lanivtsi, 23 in Berezhany, and 14 in Chortkiv. Attendees included representatives of child services, social service centers, and civic activists, as well as leaders of local governments, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities.
The meetings were held in an interactive format, allowing participants to examine key topics in depth. Attendees discussed the essence of mentorship and the latest changes under the Law of Ukraine No. 4744-IX, as well as community challenges and why the support of a reliable adult is critical for a child. Special focus was given to institutional mentorship experience, the specifics of working with internally displaced children, and outlining the next steps to implement this service locally.
An important element of the events was the unique practical experience shared by the Orphans’ Future Foundation. The organization has already been successfully implementing corporate mentorship within its programs and gladly shared actionable cases with the audience.
The primary result of these meetings is raising awareness of the service and establishing solid cross-sector collaboration for the safe future of children.
