Ridni Foundation and World Orphan Fund held an educational retreat for professionals

Every day, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals help children and families overcome the consequences of war, cope with loss, and find a foothold. However, to support others, it is extremely important to have the opportunity to recover themselves.

Thanks to the partnership with the international organization World Orphan Fund, a three-day educational retreat was held for specialists working with children and families during wartime. Together with psychotherapist Bobbie Legg, who has years of international experience working with child and adolescent trauma, participants explored trauma-informed approaches, discussed the impact of traumatic experiences on child development, and learned how to work with grief, loss, and attachment issues.

At the same time, this space was not only about learning but also about care – it was a chance to pause, restore inner resources, and spend time among colleagues. The retreat participants highly praised both the comprehensive program and the supportive atmosphere of the event.

Tetiana Frankevych, an educational coordinator in Mykolaiv, noted that these days became a time for new knowledge, useful discoveries, and personal growth. According to her, participants gained not only practical skills but also an opportunity to exchange thoughts in a space where everyone could learn and be inspired.

Svitlana Avdieieva, a psychologist from Zaporizhzhia, emphasized the value of the acquired tools: “The training turned out to be very useful. The material was presented in an accessible way, with an emphasis on practical application. I plan to implement the acquired knowledge in my professional activities. The organization of the event and the trainer’s work are at a high level.”

Kateryna Stovbun, an educational coordinator in Kryvyi Rih, highlighted the importance of emotional relief, as such events help professionals recover and recharge to continue effectively supporting beneficiaries.

Ridni Foundation team expresses its gratitude to World Orphan Fund for the partnership that helps empower those who work every day to support children and families in Ukraine.
