Ridni Foundation implements a new project for teenagers, parents, and educators in Kryvyi Rih

The “Back to Learning: Educational Recovery and Adolescent Well-Being in Kryvyi Rih” project aims to strengthen the psychosocial resilience, sense of safety, and educational engagement of adolescents aged 13–18 in the Kryvyi Rih community. The project will combine psychosocial support, non-formal education, and activities to address learning loss.

Adolescents will take part in group psychosocial sessions where they can develop self-regulation skills, learn to cope with the effects of stress, communicate safely with others, and gain experience of mutual support.

Another focus of the project is non-formal education, including soft skills, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and life skills. An additional important component is addressing learning loss in key school subjects through small-group sessions and an individualized approach.

However, adolescent resilience cannot be built without a supportive environment.

Therefore, we are also involving parents and guardians in the project – we will discuss positive parenting, supporting children’s mental health, effective communication, and responding to the consequences of traumatic events. For teachers, we will conduct training sessions on psychosocial support, trauma-informed approaches, and creating a safe educational environment.

We want adolescents to have trusted adults they can turn to for support. We want parents to better understand how to support their child, and teachers to be able to notice in time when a child needs help. The project will operate in four locations in Kryvyi Rih, covering all districts of the city. Stay tuned for updates – details coming soon.

The project is implemented within the EMPOWER project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), co-financed by the European Union, and implemented by GIZ Ukraine.
