A two-day training titled “When Flowers Grow on Stones: Specifics of Supporting Children and Adolescents with Trauma Experience” took place at the “Center for Social Support of Children and Families.”
The training for the Center’s specialists was conducted by trainer Ulyana Dolyniak, an expert in clinical and health psychology, crisis psychology, and family counseling.
During the two-day session, the participants discussed:
how past negative experiences affect brain development and a child’s subsequent behavior;
the challenges a child faces after being removed from their familiar environment and how to ease this transition period;
how to talk about pain correctly, recognize triggers, and respond to them in a timely manner;
why support and a unified approach from the surrounding environment are critical for a child’s rehabilitation.
Such training sessions help specialists better understand the needs of children who have undergone traumatic experiences and find more effective approaches in their work. This is an essential part of the daily efforts of professionals who support children and families facing difficult life circumstances, – the Foundation noted.

The project is implemented by Ridni Foundation in partnership with UNICEF.
