The Coordinating Council on the Child’s Right to family-based care met in Lviv

The event brought together government officials, international agencies, and civil society organizations to discuss critical steps in child rights protection.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the Lviv Regional Action Plan within the framework of the 2024–2028 Strategy for Ensuring Every Child’s Right to Grow Up in a Family in Ukraine.

Specifically, the participants discussed:

  • The expansion of family-based care and the placement of children deprived of parental care;
  • The improvement of the inclusive education system and ensuring the accessibility of educational institutions;
  • The training of prospective adoptive parents, foster parents, and guardians, as well as the development of mentorship programs.

Mariana Romaniak, CEO of the Ridni Foundation, participated in the meeting. She emphasized the vital importance of cooperation between the state and the civil sector to support families and promote adoption, family-based care, foster care (patronat), and mentorship.

The event was organized by the Lviv Regional State Administration in cooperation with the Coordinating Center for Family-Based Care and Child Care Development, the Ridni Foundation, and UNICEF.
