Iryna Ferko, Head of the Psychological Supervision Department at Ridni Foundation, took part in the forum “From Response to a Sustainable Model of Aid.” Over the course of two days, humanitarian sector leaders searched for solutions to build a resilient mental health system in Ukraine.
Key discussion points:
Evolution of needs: After four years of war, people require more than just immediate crisis intervention; they need comprehensive and personalized long-term support.
Caring for specialists: Psychologists also face exhaustion. To ensure high-quality care, they need regular supervision and professional support communities.
Sustainability: Transitioning from one-time actions to systemic models of assistance.
The development of psychological aid must incorporate ‘caring for the caregivers,– emphasized Iryna Ferko, highlighting the vital importance of supporting the specialists themselves.
We thank the organizers and partners for the opportunity to join this important discussion and to work together on developing the mental health system in Ukraine.
