There are moments when the world seems too loud. Too fast. Too anxious.
Especially for children who are still learning to manage their emotions. But also for adults who need to stay strong, even when a storm is inside. In these moments, we seek something small, yet real. “Khvylyalka” is precisely that.
This is not just a method. It is a ritual of silence, calm in threads, a story that you can hold in your hands. A little companion that everyone creates for themselves to entrust with their anxieties, worries, or to remind themselves: “I exist, I feel, I can cope.”
Where Did It Come From?
The idea for “Khvylyalka” was born out of a deep respect for children’s imagination and inner world. Inspiration came from the traditional Guatemalan Worry Dolls — tiny figures that children would entrust with their worries before bedtime. But in the Ukrainian context, during the war, loss, and instability, this idea gained a new meaning.
“Khvylyalka” is a modern interpretation of folk wisdom, interwoven with art therapy, psychology, and sensory support.
What Is So Special About It?
— It’s simple. You take some thread and fabric, make a few movements — and you create.
— And along with this process, something heals.
— You focus on the present moment. Feel the texture. Calm your breathing. And somehow, the world around doesn’t feel so anxious anymore.
— And when a child makes their own “Khvylyalka”, they create not just a toy but a friend they can trust.
Who Is It For?
- Children who have lost their sense of stability
- Teenagers who find it hard to speak
- Adults who need to pause and breathe
- Professionals working with trauma, adaptation, and emotional exhaustion
- And, in general, for anyone who wants to have a small anchor of calm at hand.
“Khvylyalka” is a gentle form of care. A small gesture that reminds you: you are not alone.
